Functional and Chic Multi Pochette Bags Are Here to Stay

With a few weeks left before the new decade (hello, 2020!), we’re investigating an old-but-new trend that has recently reappeared across Prada, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton collections: the Multi Pochette.

A Multi Pochette bag can best describe a style like the Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette Accessoires. It’s a handbag hybrid of sorts that combines a crossbody look with multiple pockets and compartments, typically broken down into a few individual bags all linked together through chains, straps, and clasps. Even better, they can often be worn together or separately, depending on what kind of style you’re going for.

Though maybe not as popular as Louis Vuitton’s version (which sold out in a mere weeks, and consequently has thousand-plus-name waiting lists around the world), Chanel recently launched a Multi Pochette bag of their own. The price may be to blame, considering Chanel’s average is around $3,500 to $4,000 (before tax) compared to Louis Vuitton’s $1,640.

Prada recently unveiled its own interpretation as well: the Re-Edition 2005. Unlike the others, it’s a revamp of the vintage 2005 Bandoliera Tessuto. Does that mean Prada actually started this trend? The jury’s out on that one, but it does seem likely. Similar to LV and Chanel’s, the Prada Multi Pochette features numerous pouch bags. Currently, it’s only available in select stores, however it should become available online soon. For better or worse (I vote better!), Prada’s Multi Pochette is nylon, making it slightly more durable compared to some of the others.

I’m not sure if you would consider this a Multi Pochette bag, but Fendi is behind the Multi-Purpose Belt. It’s more industrial in aesthetics, but is worth a mention considering it features a few different (very small) pockets.

Do you have your eye on a Multi Pochette bag? Are you patiently waiting for the Louis Vuitton or would you be happy with the Prada or Chanel version? (P.S. I recently purchased the Prada Re-Edition and I only have glowing things to say about it! More on that in a later post.)
